Is it legal to sell wholesale liquor to employees at a restaurant?

If l bought liquor at the wholesale price for my restaurant is it legal for me to sell it wholesale to my employees?|||Would depend on the state you were in and the conditions of your liquor license. Probably not; ask the LCB%26gt;|||NO!

That will get your liquor license taken away.

If you sell it to your employees, you will have created a RETAIL sale. This has different tax implications than a Wholesale sale. If you do not sell the alcohol to them at the Retail price you could get in big trouble!.|||why not? employees are same as customers or anyone who buys from you. as long as they're 21.|||you have to have like a liquor license or something|||Not unless your employees have a liquor license!

No, you can't sell it wholesale to your employees.|||It depends on the state you live in. In some states, liquor can be transferred if the age is 21 or over. In others, you need a license to do so. Also some classes of liquor may be restricted in sales needing a license - like in some states, you can transfer wine legally to anyone who is 21 or over, but cannot transfer beer or hard liquor without a liquor license. In some states, their is a floor price that certain liquor must be sold at, in others there are large taxes associated with the sales. And in still others, there is nothing extra to worry about. Your best bet is to check your local laws before doing anything.|||The terms "wholesale" and "retail" have no legal significance at all.

You are buying your liquor from a distributor, and you have a license to resell it. You can sell it to your customers - or your employees - at any price you want, including the same price as you paid for it.

"How" you can sell it, though, depends on the terms of your license. In many places, a restaurant will have only an "on-premises" license. Under an on-premises license, booze can typically be sold only in opened containers, and cannot be removed from the premises. If that's the license you have, you can sell your waitresses opened bottles of rum at wholesale price - as long as they drink them in the restaurant.

If you have an off-premises license that allows you to sell closed containers for consumption off the premises, though, you're in the clear.

Richard|||No but you can give them a bottle of wine at christmas.
