What is the process to get a liquor license?

Maybe to open up a liquor store in Conneticut. What are the expenses?Everything I need to know...TY.How Much?|||The state does a criminal backbround check on you, and if they find any irregularities in you background, even if you have never been convicted of anything, you can kiss it goodbye.

How do you make chocolate mold with liquor inside?

I see them in the stores all the time around the holidays. They are just a small piece of candy that has liquor on the inside instead of a creamy filling or whatever else you find in the middle of chocolates. I thought it would make a nice idea to make for a xmas party we are going to. We have to bring a homemade item so I thought these would be a hit. Anyone know?|||http://www.onestopcandle.com/chocolate/l鈥?/a>

What is the process for getting a liquor license?

To shorten the answer a bit, I guess my direct question would be, "Is it absolutely necessary to find the location before starting the process of obtaining a liquor license in Chicago Il?"|||OK MAY BE THIS HELPS......I HAVE A LIQUOR STORE IN NJ..... ABC - ALCOHOL AND BEVERAGE CONTROL REGULATES THE BARS AND LIQUOR STORES IN USA........NJ ABC CONTROLS IT IN THE STATE OF NJ AND ILLINOIS ABC SHOULD BE IN CHICAGO.......AS OF WHAT I HEARD LAST, ABC OR TOWNSHIP DO NOT ISSUE ANY MORE LICENSES IN MOST OF THE STATES AND THEY HAVE TO BE BOUGHT FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS A POCKET LICENSE (LICENSE NOT IN USE).. THAT LICENSE HAS TO BE TRANSFERRED ON YOUR NAME AND THEN YOU HAVE TO FIND A PLACE WITHIN A YEAR TO ESTABLISH THAT LICENSE....NOW THERE ARE SOME LAWS THAT EACH STATES HAS LIKE STORE/BAR HAS TO BE LIKE 750 AWAY FROM OTHER LIQUOR STORES, 250 FEET AWAY FROM SCHOOL AND CHURCH.

THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF LICENSES

TYPE D - PLENARY DISTRIBUTION

TYPE C - CONSUMPTION ON PREMISES....

I WOULD GO TO THE LOCAL ABC OF THE TOWN YOU ARE LOOKING A LICENSE AND ITS ALL PUBLIC DATA AND THEY HAVE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH THE INFORMATION AS TO WHO HAS A POCKET LICENSE THAT IS NOT IN USE AND THEIR CONTACT NUMBERS........|||go to your local liquor control board

apply for a licences

you would have to ask the liquor control board if you need a location... which would depend what type of licene you want. I know most distributor/wholesaler licenes require a warehouse or commercial location with a certain amount of stock on hand.

Can you bring a toddler to the liquor store with you?

I am making fish tacos tonight and the recipe calls for tequila. I was just wondering if it is legal to bring a 2 yr old into the liquor store with you in MN.|||You can bring her in the store, but you can't let her carry the bag to the car (I know some kids that LOVE to help with the bags). It's illegal for a minor to carry it out.|||depends on the state

most states with "liquor stores" require you to be 21 to legally enter

that being said, most stores wouldn't object from bringing in a baby/toddler.|||Depends on your location. I would call the store and plan accordingly.|||I go in with my dad all the time.|||Yeah as long as you dont give it alcohol..|||Just so long as the toddler is sober.|||YES its legal!|||yes i take my toddler in there with me-- just never drink and drive and ur good lol

What is the limit on how much liquor you can bring into England from Duty Free?

What is the limit on how much liquor you can bring into England from Duty Free?

Someone wants 4 bottles of Jack Daniels. If I buy them at the USA Duty Free can I bring that much into England or will there be taxes to pay?|||Depends what size they are...

Alcohol allowances

You can bring in either, but not both, of the following:

1 litre of spirits or strong liqueurs over 22 per cent volume

2 litres of fortified wine (such as port or sherry), sparkling wine or any other alcoholic drink that's less than 22 per cent volume

Or you can combine these allowances. For example, if you bring in one litre of fortified wine (half your full allowance) you can also bring in half a litre of spirits (half your full allowance). This would make up your full allowance. You can't go over your total alcohol allowance.

In addition you may also bring back both of the following:

16 litres of beer

4 litres of still wine

Does California require to have a liquor license to sell only beer?

Im thinking about a grill restarant that only serves beer, i mean mostly all and most popular only. What is type of license is required to sell beer but no liquor, or do u need a license at all to sell beer.|||Yes, you still need a liquor license. There are a few different kinds of licenses; one of them will enable you to sell only beer and other soft alcohols (wine, etc.), but no hard alcohol. You'll have to apply with the state, and I believe the process takes a few months.

Do you know how you get liquor sponors for a charity event in Downtown LA on Sept 25th?

we have a charity event at a very nice location and we need to get liquor sponsors but I am not sure if you go to the distributors or directly to the company? if so does anyone have contacts that I could use? it would be tax deductiable and for an AMAZING cause.|||I'm not sure what you're asking for. Is it for liquor to be served at the event, or to auction off to donors?

Can you get a different type of drunk with different types of liquor?

I have only had vodka, but I was wondering if you get a differnt sort of buzz from another type of liquor like tequila, rum, or everclear. When I have vodka I usually just feel tired and laugh at just about anything. But would my reaction to different types of alcohol be any different? Which is more fun for you to drink and how do you react differently?|||Yes!, it all goes down to your own body and what it can can handle, whether the drink was distilled, brewed or fortified, and what the drink was made from, the chemicals involved in the process....etc.

Gin, for example, is made from juniper berries, long used as a depressant, other forms of alcohol are an anti-depressant, like tequila and rum is basically just pure sugar.

Basically, different people are affected different ways by different alcoholic drinks.

For me personally, I can drink beer or white wine all day and rarely even suffer from a hangover, but hit me with hard liquor, and I'm a dribbling mess that night, and suffer for it the next morning.

You just have to learn what you can handle, and it's all trial and error.|||I don't think so.

I got tipsy off beer, and some other stuff

and i just started running around laughing like an idiot.|||Gin makes me cry. Not a clue why.|||all the people i know get mean when they drink hard liquor but you get a more giggly sensation with wine, and beer is just a good ol drujnk feeling|||I think so....For me it makes a difference. Tequila makes me wild, Whisky makes me chill as well as wine. And beer makes me feel the best.|||Ok for future reference i've seen this question been asked so many times, use the search engine before asking and you may find the answer you need.

To answer the question as best i can i know when i drink wine or spirits it gives me more of a hangover especially when mixing with soda, it dehydrates you more i guess. Drinking energy drinks and alcohol like vodka gets me a really weird drunk but i like it.|||Well, you can get knocked on your butt with White Lightning, especially Puerto Rico's brand of it.|||Yea it all depends on how much it is. Like a 3oz shot of tequila is the same a a can of beer.|||Yes, thats true for me,Red wine makes me sad, Vodka makes me feel good and Tequila well I dont drink that anymore because it makes me want to fight everybody and its usually my husband that got it bad.lol YEP Tequila turns me into an ***!|||i think you just get a different type of hangover|||yes you do get different kinds of reactions from diffrent types of liquor.|||The answer is as individual as the person drinking. I get mean when I drink tequila, mellow on Rum, drunk as _heck_ on whiskey (which is to say, up all night, spinning,) and just cruise along in a slightly silly mood on beer.

But yeah.. different boozles seem to affect different folk in different ways.

I know people who are absolutely the opposite to me, though.. beer gets them drunker than anything, and they can drink Jack and Coke till the cows come home and pass a sobriety test without a second thought.|||Tequila is different for sure. Try it and tell me otherwise.

What do you know about getting and keeping a liquor license?

In the state of Florida, Colorado, Main, Alaska but mainly Florida.

What is the Cost? What hurtles must you jump to obtain a liquor license? If I wanted to open a convienits store offering full liquor and cooked food ... what would I have to obtain in licenses so on and so forth in hillsbourough county, florida?|||google.com that info or / and call those local government agencies in those states and cities also for that.

I have a building and a liquor license. What is the best motif to go with to start a new tavern, small town?

Old masonic lodge, liquor store operating in basement, hardwood floor and 12 foot projection screen TV in hall how do I turn this into a money maker? Northern Wisconsin small town.|||A Masonic lodge is a really cool building to use for a bar! I would be sure to add a pool table and set up a weekly dart league also. In the summer months, try setting up another bar outside with lights and FLOODLIGHTS for a horseshoe pit... again have tournaments, prizes etc.....I will agree that having foodservice in addition to your beverage operation will be and IS a challenge. People subconciously DEMAND consistent food and once you stray from that, you lose customers. Have local bands come in and play, it sounds like you have the room for it also. Maybe set up Football Sundays and show a variety of games (feature the favorites of course). Hiring attractive young ladies is always a good scheme to get guys to take out their wallets. Pay attention to the feel of the town and visit some of the other establishments around the area before you commit to anything and open your doors. As you visit them, ask yourself, "what is this place missing?" or "what is so appealing to everyone about this bar?" As you grow, then you can add food to your establishment, keep in mind again that this will cost more to run properly.... when you get to that point, KEEP IT SIMPLE!!!! Burgers, chili, fried foods, bar pizzas, wings, and MAYBE once a week offer a steak.... Another aspect is Breakfast.... Blood Mary's and Ice Fishing... the possibilities are limitless. Hope some or all of these ideas help out, and good luck !!!|||Make it a sports bar with lots of Packers memorabilia.|||Be sure to have comfortable chairs, nice tables but nothing too elaborate. Have theme night for the slowest nights such as a dart or pool tournament night. Once a month, have free food for that month's birthdays. Have a photo wall of customers who come in frequently or those who win at darts or pool. Have a juke box with songs to suit the age of your customers. Have interesting things on the wall. You could go with antique bar signs, old interesting calendars, old photographs of local sights, etc. Stock lots of snack items, including chips, popcorn, pretzels and maybe pickles and pickled herring. These are all salty, hence, more drinks will be sold.|||Cater to your potential customers. Are they cowboys, race fans, country music, hard rock, etc. You must know something about the people in the town. Search out the largest demographic group that aren't nondrinkers and go for the gusto.

What liquor should I bring to the party?

The girl having the birthday likes fruity drinks and this is a small college party. However I don't like bringing the usual Hpnotiq, Henessy, Crown Royal and the like. I've been going over this in my head, the party is on the 20th. I was thinking Amarula, Sambuca, Di Saronno, or even thought about wowing them with some Absinthe. What do you guys think? Is there a liquor out there I may be overlooking? By the way, I'm not incredibly fond of schnapps or cheap flavored liqueurs.|||Midori melon liquor is a good choice. It's about $35 a bottle, so it's a high-end fruity drink. She'll get the fruity cocktails she desires and you'll get to wow her with something that's a little out of the ordinary and more expensive than Triple Sec or Peach Scnapps. Mix it with country-time lemonade mix, it's great. Goldschlagger(sp?) is a fun liquor. It's cinnamon flavored and has tiny gold flecks floating in the bottle. You also might try buying a nicer bottle of vodka like Belvadere or Grey Goose that would be very versatile as it could be mixed with a number of things to make different cocktails. Bring something that people will drink and can easily be mixed with other liquors, I've been to a number of parties and nothing's worse than playing the "I have this liquour, you have that liquor, now what can we make out of the two of them" game. The game always ends one way, shots--and you just can't enjoy your liquor that way. Whatever you choose, make sure it's something other people will drink and that you bring lots of good mixers that will go with it. Have fun!|||Jello shots are really good, cheap and easy to make.|||Jungle juice, of course you can't buy it, but you can make it. It calls for tons of assorted fruit (which you can buy in bags, frozen) and you can use any different liquor or whiskey. Last time we made it we used fruit flavored vodka, which makes the mixture good. It's always good to use a large variety of alcohol in your mixture. We used a huge cooler to make it in, but you can improvise if you want a smaller serving.|||Have you ever tried Passoa? Its passion fruit and really nice. Or Malibu.

Or if you dont want something fruity how about Glayva - its a whisky liqueur and really tasty with lemonade (http://www.glayva.com/ )

Although depending on which country you are in you may not find it!|||Jagermeister makes a ton of really great shots. Most are easy and go down really well. I would be careful about 'true' Absinthe, most of the time it has to be ordered from overseas and can be expensive. Some people have bad experiences with the hallucinogenic affects. Sambuca would be pretty nice too. If you did bring Jager, make sure some people bring Cran. juice, pineapple juice, some Malibu rum, and there are a host of shots you can do with some other simple mixers. Many people are hesitant of Jager because it gets a bad rep, but really, it isn't going to knock you down like other liquors.|||Cointreau!

http://www.cointreau.com/|||Chambord, a dark raspberry liqueur, would be a tasty and unique gift. The bottle is pretty too.

Other considerations include the following.

Midori, melon flavor and bright green. A simple Midori sour is very enjoyable.

Cointreau, orange flavor but more refreshing than Grand Marnier.

The original Archors peach schnapp is actually very tasty, make a "sex on the beach" and you'll see.

Frangelico, a hazelnut flavored rivel to amaretto.

Drambui, heather honey flavored whisky.

Last but not least, Southern Comfort, a peach flavored whisky very popular amongst the party crowd.|||Grand Marnier - warm it in a brandy snifter.

Or, Chambord, mixed with champagne is wonderful.....

I'm suggesting these as it sounds like you'd like to bring something the party giver might like and something impressive as well. You mentioned she likes "fruity" drinks

and the first is an orange liqueur, the second, raspberry - both are a bit pricey but worth it.|||Since its a small party why don't you wow them with making a drink? Two fun ones: Since she likes fruity drinks, she's probably not a big or experienced drinker a good shot that doesn't taste like liquor and women love is called

A Ginger Bread Snap.

Shake over ice equal parts of Goldshlager, Baileys and Butterscotch schnapps,

Strain , serve chilled, straight up in a shot glass. IT tastes just like a gingerbread cookie but carries a little 'whop

Second: If your friends are into drinking and can handle the challenge, these are a lot of fun to do, You feel it faster and the combination hits your system a little harder:. Worth the work. Make a ...

FLAMING DR. PEPPER

You'll need

Regular beverage glasses ( like tea or water at a restaurant)

glass shot glasses

Beer

Kaluha

Amaretto

Bacardi 151

A lighter

Fill beverage glass 1/2 with beer

In shot glass pour amaretto, kaluha and top with 151

Light the 151 and drop the shot glass into the beer.

As soon as the flame goes out, you have to drink the whole thing. Cant stop because the layers of the drink only at the end tastes like a Dr. Pepper.

What has more calories and is considered more fattening, beer or hard liquor?

I have heard arguments for both. Some say beer has yeast and is considered high in carbohydrates, while others say hard liquor is more concentrated and has more sugar than beer. Which is more fattening?|||A general rule for beer and liquor, if you can see through it, then it is lower in calories, if you cannot see through it then it is high in calories.

Example:

Coors Light and Vodka - Light in Calories

Amber/Porter/Stouts and Bourbon, Whiskey and Cordials - High in Calories

Anything fruity, beer or liquor is high in calories|||There is a simple answer: the lower the alcohol content, the lower the calories.

If measured in equal quantities, without mixers added, then beer has about a quarter or less the amount of calories as hard liquor, like gin, rum and whisky. (Incidentally, gin is not a low cal option). Wine has less than half the amount of calories.

Where people get mixed up, I think, is that beer has a carbohydrate component whereas 'hard liquor' generally doesn't. Where there is no carbohydrate content then the calories come from left over sucrose or fructose. (ie: sugars that weren't consumed during the process of making alcohol) The carbs in beer are largely from the malt used to produce it. Note that alcohol itself does not have any flavour, or at least no sweet flavour, it is simply the preservative in the alcohol or the waste product produced by the yeast consuming the sugars. The longer you ferment the product, the more alcohol is produced and the less sweet the product, unless extra sugar is added. But eventually the alcohol will poison the yeast and fermentation will stop, leaving behind sugars anyway. (Note: as sugars are themselves simple carbohydrate, this subject is far more complex than can be explained here.)

The exception is something like Baileys Irish Cream, which also has cream (or fat content). Baileys is in effect a pre-mixed drink.

So why does whiskey have less carbs than beer even though both are made from cereals and why does gin or vodka have the same amount of calories as a spirit like rum which is made from sugar cane? Well, if you have ever distilled your own gin, you'll know that a lot of added sugar is needed to get the finished product, whereas Rum has primarily 'natural' sugars.

Does that answer your question as to which is more fattening?

I know a lot of weight conscious girls who only drink gin and diet tonic or diet coke. They know to stay away from beer. Large quantities of beer will undoubtedly give you a beer pot or beer belly. Large quanties of any alcohol will give you puffy skin all over. It is recognised that alcohol in the diet is simply empty calories with no nutritional value. But it is unknown exactly whether the body stores these calories or simply flushes them through, and perhaps this is because it depends on each individual's rate of metabolism and other factories.

If you are trying to lose weight, don't drink anything other than water and occasional plain small (whole) milk drinks.|||Beer, typically.

Vodka for instance is not much more than water and alcohol. I suppose whiskey and bourbon to have more calories but not much more.

Stick with beer. It may be more fattening but due to lack of alcohol concentration not as damaging to the liver.|||beer is more fattening

however, a lot of those fruity mixed drinks have more sugar and hidden calories so you would consume more calories because they also have less calories

if you drink often and don't want to gain weight, try walking for at least 30 mins a day

happy sunday :]

What's the difference in consuming raw hard liquor & mixing it with a juice/soda,etc?

I would like to know what's the difference between consuming raw hard liquor and mixing it with a juice, say, orange and/or with soda, say, coke/Pepsi,etc. Is drinking raw hard liquor is gonna damage your liver more than the mixed drink does? Other than personal preferences which one is safer for liver/digestive path?

Thanks,|||It doesn't matter if you drink alcohol alone or with a mixer; it has the same health effect. It just tastes better and is easier to drink with a mixer.|||It depends on how much liquor consumed. If you drink two mixed drinks with half a cup of vodka, it would be the same as one cup of just vodka. Your liver is also affected by non-alcoholic drinks, though, don't forget that. However, if mixing drinks keeps you from overindulging, then by all means, mix your drinks.|||mixing dilutes it more so the liquor isn't quite as strong. i think this will make the alcohol's effects slow down, like not come on as fast. however, be careful, because it's easy to lose track of how many drinks you're having when they all taste like juice.|||One isn't more safe then the other. Mixing just tastes better

How do you remove the black liquor security caps on liquor bottles at Meijer?

Does anyone know how to remove the black security caps that they place on the tops of 750 ml size liquor bottles in the liquor aisles at Meijer?|||YOU DON'T

They are removed at the checkout once you PAY for the bottle|||The salesperson will remove them for you when you buy the bottle.

If you didn't purchase the bottle, then you really don't deserve to drink the contents.|||most likely you would use a strong magnet maybe one from a speaker.. but i would think you could take the bottle to your local police department and they would open it for you lol|||Not worth it. Get someone to buy it for you. A couple of my friends got caught stealing booze and was NOT worth the consequences.

Sorry kid

Why is it illegal to transport liquor into Vermont? Does Vermont have its own vineyards?

I live in Chicago and was about to send my Mother-in-law a bottle of wine. Then I was stopped and told that I could not bring in or take out any liquor in Vermont. I just want to know why. I feel like this is Prohibition again. For such a liberal state that Vermont is, I don't understand this restriction.|||Because Vermont is a control state, it's illegal to transport it for resale. Not much can be said for one or two bottles. It's large amounts that strike up suspicion. You're fine sending your in-law a bottle.|||Every state has their own liquor laws.... My friend from CT couldn't get wine shipped to her in CT from PA.....but I could in GA.....check out this winery I visited that is in Charlotte, VT, I was told by the owner that you can have their wine shipped out of state (but of course that only applys to certain states)..... Who told you that you couldn't bring in or take out any liquor in VT???? I've never had a problem... before the new TSA rules I flew with a bottle of wine in my carry on luggage from Burlington, VT to Atlanta, GA.... I've also had wine shipped to me from VT to GA and never had a problem.

How do i make good tasting liquor drink?

i like liquor but sometimes it just tastes bad. does anyone know how to mix a drink that tastes really good but still will have me tipsy?|||Depends on what kind of liquor

for vodka, take a 5th of vodka, reserve 1/3rd of it in a seperate container, put into the bottle your favorate fruit or fruit flavored jolly ranchers, allow to soak for six weeks and enjoy.

If you want something quick you can make a screw driver, orange juice and vodka

Comacasi, vodka, 7-up, lime juice and lemon juice fresh squeezed

Crown and coke

Margarita

Tequila sunrise, tequila orange juice and grenadine.

Malibu and Coke

Cherry Vodka and 7up

Sex on the Beach

Rum and Coke, Vodka and Cranberry are good too but some bars make them so strong that you can't even drink them, so be careful when ordering those.|||Typical "good tasting" drinks are along the lines of margaritas, cherry vodka sours, whiskey sours, etc. These drinks hide liquor pretty well and the sweet taste will make you want to drink it more frequently. The sour drinks require sour mix, the liquor it has in it's name, and for the cherry flavor, use grenadine. The margarita requires tequila, triple sec, sour mix (or you can use a pre-made margarita mix available at most liquor stores).

Is it legal to sell wholesale liquor to employees at a restaurant?

If l bought liquor at the wholesale price for my restaurant is it legal for me to sell it wholesale to my employees?|||Would depend on the state you were in and the conditions of your liquor license. Probably not; ask the LCB%26gt;|||NO!

That will get your liquor license taken away.

If you sell it to your employees, you will have created a RETAIL sale. This has different tax implications than a Wholesale sale. If you do not sell the alcohol to them at the Retail price you could get in big trouble!.|||why not? employees are same as customers or anyone who buys from you. as long as they're 21.|||you have to have like a liquor license or something|||Not unless your employees have a liquor license!

No, you can't sell it wholesale to your employees.|||It depends on the state you live in. In some states, liquor can be transferred if the age is 21 or over. In others, you need a license to do so. Also some classes of liquor may be restricted in sales needing a license - like in some states, you can transfer wine legally to anyone who is 21 or over, but cannot transfer beer or hard liquor without a liquor license. In some states, their is a floor price that certain liquor must be sold at, in others there are large taxes associated with the sales. And in still others, there is nothing extra to worry about. Your best bet is to check your local laws before doing anything.|||The terms "wholesale" and "retail" have no legal significance at all.

You are buying your liquor from a distributor, and you have a license to resell it. You can sell it to your customers - or your employees - at any price you want, including the same price as you paid for it.

"How" you can sell it, though, depends on the terms of your license. In many places, a restaurant will have only an "on-premises" license. Under an on-premises license, booze can typically be sold only in opened containers, and cannot be removed from the premises. If that's the license you have, you can sell your waitresses opened bottles of rum at wholesale price - as long as they drink them in the restaurant.

If you have an off-premises license that allows you to sell closed containers for consumption off the premises, though, you're in the clear.

Richard|||No but you can give them a bottle of wine at christmas.

How much would it cost to stock inventory in a new empty Liquor Store?

Me and 2 Partners are opening a liquor store and just want an idea on how much we may need to stock the store. The store is between 1500-2000 square feet. We want to sell Wine spirits and a little selection of beer.|||Stop by a local liquor store that is about the same size as what you have in mind and take a rough count of how many bottles they have. You can do an estimate by counting the number of shelves and doing a real count of a few feet of one shelf. Your estimate will give you a starting point in your math.

Figure that you will pay around $20 per bottle to get you started. Of course if you want to carry high end stuff it will be much more. Methinks you have budgeted too low.|||Wow, just to stock it (exluding permits, insurance, etc.) I'd have a good $100,000 in the bank at least, if not more. Start-up is the worst part, having to buy everything at once. After that you'll get a feel for what's moving and what isn't.|||30,000

What are greygoose vodkas or ANY liquor companies channel of distribution?

I have a research assignment and I cant find how grey goose vodka gets from france to my liquor store!

Any examples of spirit/liquor companies would be GREATLY accepted!|||It depends on which country you are in both most work using the following method.

Grey Goose is owned by by Bacardi International. They product the product in France. From here it is shipped to subsiary companies around the globe. In Australia, this company is called Bacardi Lion Australia (called Sidney Frank Importing Company in the US). This importer may or may not have any affiliation with the producer.

From here to product is sold into "wholesalers". These are generally very large and are not open to the public.

Lastly the bottleshops and bars buy from the wholesaler then sell to the consumers.

Overall:

What is the history behind the liquor laws in Pennsylvania?

I'm wondering about the...interesting liquor laws in Pennsylvania. Why can't one buy beer at a state store? Why do beer distributors only sell cases? Why can I get a six pack at a hoagie shop but not at the grocery store or Wawa?|||Although Gospieler's answer correctly defines the essential function of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) it does not accurately answer your question.

In the US there are two type of states when it comes to the sale of alcohol there are lisensure states and control states. Control states are the most stringent when it comes to the sale of alcohol. Pennsylvania is a control state. The PLCB regulates the sale of all liquor, wine, and beer in the Commonwealth of PA. These regulations were created in 1933 and have seen little change since that time. You must remember that in those days people saw alcohol much differently Than they do today. they wanted control over who could buy it and where it could be sold. That is why in PA there are a lot of antiquated laws which regulate the sale of alcohol. The PA Wine and Spirts stores are owned by the PLCB. This is the only place you can get liquor and wine (including wine coolers). A beer distributor is a "wholesaler" for beer. The a required by law to sell in a package no less than a case. A liquor licensed Establishment (bar, hoagie shop, restaurant, etc) can sell liquor and beer to be consumed on the premises and can sell up to 2 six pack of beer at a time for take out. I could go on and on but I hope this helped.|||I'm from NY. We can buy beer anywhere, anytime.

I know here we go to distributors. These are the best links.

Apparently Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board dictates these laws for their own benefit. See first link.|||The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) is an independent government agency that manages the beverage alcohol industry in Pennsylvania.

The PLCB was established in conjunction with the 21st Amendment and the repeal of prohibition. In 1933, just four days before the sale of alcohol became legal in Pennsylvania, the Board was officially organized.

The PLCB holds MONOPOLISTIC RIGHTS to the distribution of all wines and hard liquor in the state. To this end, the agency owns and operates Wine %26amp; Spirits retail locations. It is RESPONSIBLE for licensing the possession, sale, storage, transportation, importation and manufacture of wine, spirits and malt or brewed beverages in the Commonwealth, as well as operating a system of liquor distribution (retailing) and providing education about the harmful effects of alcohol consumption.|||prohibition

What should a basic "liquor cabinet" be stocked with?

We are not heavy drinkers but we do entertain a lot. On occasion we like to enjoy a drink or two and some of our guests like to indulge a bit more. ;) What should a basic liquor cabinet consist of?|||I think a good liquor cabinet needs the bare basics. The odds are that you'll be doing mixed drinks, so there is no need for expensive liquors either. The real key to your question is actually more of the mixers. As far as the Liquors........

1 basic Vodka...unless you're planning on doing shots/Martinis I would not waste my money on premium/expensive brands. Absolut is fairly inexpensive, and certainly decent. Popov I think gets my vote for best cheap vodka. If you want to impress the priciest are Belvedere and Grey Goose, but personally I think the best tasting vodka is Kettle 1.

2. A basic bourbon (see reasoning of vodka)....Jack Daniels is a good basic.

3. A basic Gin....almost no one drinks Gin martinis anymore...and no one drinks it in shots....so go for a cheapie. Certainly nothing fancier then a basic Bombay.

4. Splurge for a nice scotch.....people will drink scotch straight...and you do get what you pay for.....a somewhat reasonable nice single malt is Glenlivet. Personally I'm addicted to Llagavulin (sp?)

5. Any triple sex

6. A basic rum

7. One decent brandy for after dinner drinks....splurge here.

8. Grenadine (for the girlie drinkers)

9. Rosa's lime juice.....nice and cheap

One sweeter appertif liquer....something like amaretto|||Haggis and Kimchee. Johnny Walker, Capn. Morgan, Jamacan Apple butter rum... Mmmmm RumMMMM, I don't drink anymore, but that's a good start...|||liquor what else|||a lock to keep the kids out.|||http://www.lamplighters.com/pages/liquor鈥?/a>

daquiris, jack and coke, vodka cranberry or any martinis.

or you could think about what you and your friends typically drink and then just keep a supply of those items handy!

I would start with the basics. At least two varieties of each. VODKA: Grey Goose and Ketel one

BOURBON: Elmer T. Lee and Woodford reserve (these are sipping bourbons not for mixing)

SCOTCH (single malt) The Dalmore and Highland park

GIN: Saphire or Tanguery

RUM: Captain Morgan for mixing and for sippin Pyrat XO and Cruzan

Then switch over to your wines

2 RED: Merlot and a Shiraz

2 WHITE: a Chardonnay and a sweeter Reisling|||Vodka.|||The brands depend on whether you want to go "top shelf" or not. For instance, Grey Goose is the best vodka. But if you may not want to spend $35 a bottle. For scotch, go for a single-malt like Glenlivet. The single-malts are better than blended. Bombay is a good gin.|||Burnett's Flavored Vodka

What is best liquor mixed with coca cola?

We are having an acquaintance party for our school and we will be drinking beer before the party just to have some kick. After that I am thinking of smuggling inside the party some liquor. I know the drinks will be coca cola, sprite and i am thinking what should i put on my liquor flask. I am thinking of brandy or rum but im not sure what goes best. Pls advice me.|||- Bourbon

- Jack Daniels

- Rum (light or dark)

Many people say Vodka but I personally think Vodka/Coke is a horrible mix.

However with the Sprite, Vodka is in fact the best mix.

Brandy - not a mixer. Designed to be enjoyed straight or sometimes with soda.

Light Rum is in my opinion the most versatile simple mixer - great in Coke / Sprite / great in Juices.

Enjoy!|||Whisky such as Chivas or JD is ok but not that tasty coz Whisky taste a little spicy when mixed with coke(gassy).

Therefore Brandy such as Johnny Walker( Black label) or Martell will be a better choice. It's more easy going when mixed with coke. Never mix any 'Blown' colour liquor with sprite. It taste absolutely awful like cough syrup.

Try mixing liquor with either soda or drink it on the rock. becoz liquor itself contain very high sugar level. if mixed with coke, sugar level will be like doubled. Beware of DIABETES!!!.

Do remember, a good liquor do not require any mixer.|||I cant stand to mix ANY liquor with any kindof drink, i just feel like if im going to drink then im just going to swallow it dry as fast as possible to get it over with, while im doing that i hold my breath and then drink some coke (gulp it) until the taste of the liquor goes away.|||Jack Daniels,Crown Royal,Jim Beam,Captain Morgan,Bacardi#8,Bacardi silver, I have heard of people mixing it with scotch but to me tastes like crap! These are the better mixes but you can mix coke with pretty much any kind of bourbon or rum.|||Has to be whisky, a sweet whisky such as Jack Daniels. If you don't like this try Rum and Coke. What is the effect of liquor on a heart patients ?

A cardiologist has told me that consumption of liquor (limited) is a good medicine for a heart patient. Is it fact ?|||Moderate drinking is defined as no more than one drink per day for women or lighter weight persons and no more than two drinks per day for men. One drink is equal to the following: 12 ounces of beer or wine cooler, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof liquor.

Specific "suspected" heart-related benefits of alcohol include:

* Raises HDL, or "good" cholesterol level.

* Lowers blood pressure.

* Inhibits the formation of blood clots (this can be good or bad. It may prevent heart attacks but could increase the risk of bleeding).

* Helps prevent artery damage caused by high LDL, or "bad " cholesterol.

But, until we know more about the pros and cons of alcohol consumption, do not recommend drinking alcohol specifically for better heart health.|||Alcohol, a drug, is consumed at some time by up to 80% of the population. At low doses alcohol can have some beneficial effects such as decreased rates of myocardial infarction, stroke, gallstones, and possibly vascular and Alzheimer's dementias. However, the consumption of more than two standard drinks per day increases the risk for health problems in many organ systems. Heavy repetitive drinking, as is seen in alcohol abuse and dependence, cuts short the life span by an estimated decade in both genders, all cultural groups, and all socioeconomic strata. Unless an individual stops drinking, a diagnosis of alcohol dependence carries a 80% risk for continued severe problems over the next 5 years. In addition, even relatively low doses of alcohol can adversely affect many preexisting disease states and alter the effectiveness or blood levels of most over-the-counter and prescribed medications.

Hrrison's principles of medicine 17 th edition chapter 387|||I'm a heart patient, and I do not drink except for a glass of wine during special occasions and a beer during hockey games. I am not allowed to drink any more than that.

All in all, it depends on what kind of heart problems the patient has and what medications they're taking, if any. There are so many different kinds of heart problems that a cardiologist cannot say that liquor in moderation is good for all heart patients.|||Alcohol contributes to dehydration, which is the root cause of most health problems.

The answer to your question depends on your level of dehydration. Most people are dehydrated to some extent, so this should come as no surprise to you. If you have dark colored urine, headaches, constipation, congestion, runny nose, etc you might want to correct your dehydration before consuming much alcohol.|||Yes consumption of liquor up to 30 ml daily is a good medicine but you will take more than 30 ml daily it will be harmfull

Of course you can chase it after the shot too because its not always possible to eliminate the alcohol taste. You could also try mixed drinks, or fruity liquor.|||take a deep breath and swig it down... a chaser can help lots. if you can't handle the taste mix it instead of shooting it... remember hard liquor has more alcohol then beer so be careful not to drink to much to fast, or else you will really really regret it.|||hold your breath and down it quick. How do I obtain a permit to serve liquor in a restaurant in Indiana?

My girlfriend (18) just got hired at a Buffalo Wild Wings bar %26amp; grill as a waitress and was told she needed to get a permit to serve liquor there. The term he used was "liquor license" but I was under the impression that sort of thing was more required for people opening a bar (i.e. zoning boards, etc.). Anyways, I've done extensive Google searches and I can't find a straight answer, and I know there's a ton of you that may have been in the same boat at one time. How do I know what brand of liquor to order at a bar?

I am not very familiar with different brands of liquor, such as which are better, more expensive and which are cheaper, etc. When I go to a bar what brands of different liquors should I order ? I really don't care and am fine with the house liquor because it will be the cheapest. If I just name the drink is the bartender going to ask me which brand of liquor I want? How do I respond?|||i work on a bar and i always serve the house drinks unless the customer specifies that they want another more expensive brand.

if your that worried though you can just ask which is the house brand before you order, or if they ask afterwards just say you'll have whichever is the house/cheapest. Or if your not so bothered about the price ask the bar tender which they think is the nicest or which is the most popular. Then you could ask how much that one is.

Basically talk to the person behind the bar that's what they're there for.|||If you say that you are fine with drinking the cheap stuff, just say you want well or house vodka. Bars usually carry a crappy brand as their well drinks. So like the vodka, gin, rum, tequila, triple sec in the well is usually a no name brand like Gilberts or something cheap. I've even seen Poland Springs vodka before lol. Also relatively cheap for vodka Absolut, Rum Captains or Bacardi, Gin Tanqueray. Usually these are only like .50 - 1.00 more than the well vodkas. The most expensive are Grey Goose, Ketel One, Sailor Jerry, Bombay Sapphire, etc. Just reply you want the well vodka or whatever.|||If you order a rum and coke, you will get whatever kind of rum they use as the "house" brand. It will often be one of the cheaper ones unless you're in a very high end bar. If you want a specific brand, you ask for " Bacardi and rum". Never be afraid to ask a server or bartender to recommend something a bit different or a bit more expensive, (it's part of their job to help you spend more money and get exactly what you want), but in many mixed drinks you won't notice much taste difference. Drinks that are almost entirely alcohol or mixed with water only, like Martinis or Scotch on the rocks, that's where paying for a premium brand might be worth it. However, the price difference between the best and the cheapest isn't always all that much except maybe with some Scotch whiskeys.|||If he asks, just tell him the house liquor is fine and he will give you that. Lots of people order drinks like "coke and rum" and if you dont specify the specific brand, he will give you the house brand, especially in busy clubs, if you dont specify the type of liquor you want, they wont ask, theyll give you the house stuff. If you want a beer or wine, you will usually have to pick one. Try to find out what the special is on beer and have that, most of the American mainstream beers they have on special are equally good.|||It depends on how picky you are with what you want to drink the best way to find out is try loads of different brands and types of different liquor e.g rum comes in at least 3 different types dark rum white rum and spicy rum. My favourite is whisky, scotch mainly to be honest single malt whisky is may fav but even in that there is different types and flavours it is all about trial and error so have fun getting sloshed!|||you got

What kind of liquor is in schnapps and can you buy it straight?

I have a customer (I work at a liquor store) that wants to buy a liquor that tastes the same as what you would get in schnapps but he wants it unflavored so he can "experiment" with different flavors. He wants something with very little after taste that's not too high in alcohol content. Thanks! :D|||"Schnapps" is German for brandy, I believe. There are all kinds of Schapps, just like there are all kinds of brandy. It is mixed with whatever flavor it says it is. Cherry brandy is "Kirschwasser," for example. The alcohol content is very high, regardless of whether it is mixed with something else.|||well i have been setting here on the computer drinking peppermint schnapps for about 3 hrs now and have about an hours worth left , but seriously he cannot get it unflavored unless he goes too the distillery and have them make it special for him , good luck finding it fot him/her what i am drinking and i am reading from the bottle it says 30% ALC/CONTENT 60 PROOF , LOW ALCOHOL C ONTENT COMPARED TOO 90 PROOF TO 100 PROOF|||O.K., so far everybody here is pretty much WRONG! I'm from Germany, where Schnapps originated, let me explain:

Schnapps is a type of distilled beverage. The word Schnapps is derived from the German word Schnaps and refers to usually clear alcoholic beverages distilled from fermented cereals, roots or fruits, including cherries (Kirschwasser), apples, pears, peaches, plums and apricots. Often, the base material for making schnapps is the pulp that is a by-product in juice production. True Schnapps has no sugar or flavouring added.

Schnapps is similar in flavour and consistency to vodka, with light fruit flavours, depending on the base material. The alcohol content is usually around 40% by volume.

Since Schnapps can be made from cereals, of course there is Schnapps without fruit flavor.

This one would be ideal for your customer:

BERENTZEN - Doornkaat

Enjoy the sinful smooth flavour of Germany's traditional maize-based schnapps, it's clean, clear and awesome.

In its bold green bottle and distinct logo it should be positioned between vodkas and gin and in the neighborhood of grain specialties like Steinhaeger and Aquavit. Doornkaat could be enjoyed chilled or in your favourite cocktail.

Doornkaat is the only speciality grain spirit that is distilled three times in a complex procedure, thus acquiring its unique quality. This ensures that Doornkaat has an extremely pure, mild and clear flavour which corresponds to the connoisseur of clear spirits.

Doornkaat has been one of the most well-known German brand name spirits for a number of decades (38% vol).|||no|||Schnapps is actually a fruit brandy, made from fermented fruits or cereals. It's flavor comes from the pulp used as base material (cherries, peaches, apricots, pears or peaches). There is no such thing as unflavored schnapps, since the flavoring is built in from the fermented base.|||jade i used to work in a liquor store ive never seen unflavored schnapps. i know theres everclear that people use to make diffrent things but thats way high in proof maybe he can try plain vodka there always coming out with new flavors in that|||Yes I believe you can buy it straight with different flavors as well and as to what's in it, its based brandy and you can take it from there.|||Schnapps is the alcohol equivilent of crack. But it comes in so many flavors, I would have no idea where to even start.|||Any schnapps is going to have 'flavor'. The customer is somewhat crazy in the thought process that he wants something that is the same taste as schnapps but is unflavored. Sounds like he was a little tipsy when he asked you for this one. Schnapps has a higher sugar content and lower alcohol content. No flavor but with still a somewhat higher alcohol content would be to use vodka and add a simple sugar solution. Simple sugar is equal parts sugar and water. Then add that to the vodka. This would dilute the alcohol percentage. It would add the sugar content and it would also reduce all, if any, flavor that you could taste from the vodka. At this point, you could infuse any flavor that you chose to add. For example, you could take a glass gallon jug, add one-fifth, 750 milliliters of vodka, 6 ounces of simple sugar solution and 8 halved peaches and refrigerate for a couple of weeks. This would give you a modified peach schnapps type alcohol that you could adjust the recipe for your next batch. You could also try this with any other fruit, or vegetable, that you wanted to try. Hope this helps.

When did PA start sealing liquor bottles with paper tabs?

I recently came across a bottle of JW Red that was made before liquor bottle caps were sealed with the red tabs. What restrictions are placed on liquor storage in the living space of a motor home?

As I found on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_contai鈥?/a> states may still receive full federal funding by not restricting open containers of liquor in the living space of a motor home. Do any states have such restrictions anyway? I'm curious about both restrictions on storage of, say, opened bottles of spirits, but also about consumption of alcohol in the living quarters of motor homes while the vehicle is turned off.|||Peggy pretty much said it all. Store all you want, you just can't drink %26amp; drive...or have open containers while on the road. Not to say, that when I've driving, there aren't people behind me some times having a drink...and if so, if drinking beer, it's never from the beer bottle (we have our standards, beer in cans not in our house or RV!)...it's always from a cup. No need to create a problem for anyone driving by.|||As far as I know, no states actually enforce that...unless you are a CDL truck driver ...then it is NO alcohol allowed even

unopened in the cab or sleeper part of the truck at any time.

As for an RV on the road...open container laws apply. Once parked, drink as much as you want, just do not drive while

under the influence.

Is this a real question?

How can you tell if someone has been drinking hard liquor?

I'm asking because when drinking hard liquor, you can't smell it on the breath for some reason so how do you tell?|||Believe it or not alcohol in beverages really does not have an odor. What you smell is the preservatives and coloring agents. There is no law about drinking preservatives and coloring agents. What you smell is the odor associated with alcohol beverages, which is a good indication of drinking alcohol. A good indication is the jerkiness in the eye movement as a person watches a moving object. If the person is half way (or more) drunk, it will be obvious in their overall movement.|||You can smell it and it smells rancid. Vodka is about the only one that you cant really smell.

You can tell by their behavior usually. Are they acting differently than normal?

You can also tell by looking and someones eyes, red or glassy.

Listen to speech. People under the influence of alcohol will usually slur their words, sounding like they have a lazy tongue.

Do I need a liquor permit if I work in a resturant that serves liquor?

I live in Indiana and can't get a liquor license because of a dui and i am on probation. so do i need to have a liquor license to be a server but not serve alcohol in a restaurant?|||The restaurant must have a license, usually not the server. But I think I am right in this -- in Texas, if a person is on probation -- and liquor was the problem, that person would not be allowed to work in the place where is liquor sold.|||This may vary by state, but I don't believe to work in a restaurant that serves alcohol you would need a license. I'm pretty sure it's the owner of the franchise that needs to be licensed. Hope this helps.|||you don't but you need to take a bartenders course if your working at a bar, but if you just run drinks like beer you don't need one.|||If you own the restaurant, yes. If you just work there, no. It's the establishment that gets the license, not the individual. You may need to worry more about getting a job with your DUI conviction.|||You don't need a liquor permit, but the resteraunt does.|||No.

Is there any way to open up a bottle when the cap just spins in place? How do I make liquor infusions?

I am the head bartender at a new bar, and we want to make liquor infusions with peppers, fruits, spices, etc. Does anyone know how to do that exactly? We have big, 5 gallon glass containers for it already. Thanks!|||Homemade Liqueurs Print

From the velvety, sweet depths of an after-dinner glass of Irish cream to the subtle and sophisticated whisper of a custom-infused vodka martini, homemade liqueurs can be crafted to suit every mood and taste. They make ideal gifts for any occasion, they require no special equipment, and best of all, they're easy to make! If you've got a little imagination and a little patience, you can start creating your very own signature liqueurs today.

At the Base of it All

Most homemade liqueurs start with vodka . Flavoring and infusing vodka is a tradition as old as vodka-drinking itself. This spirit is an ideal base for liqueurs because it's colorless and flavorless, making a perfect blank canvas on which to paint your very own flavor creations. To the vodka, you may add any number of ingredients to create copies of your favorite name-brand libations, or craft your very own innovative new flavors. Some of the most popular liqueur flavors, like coffee (e.g., Kahlua), amaretto, and Irish cream, not to mention homemade schnapps of every description, all rely on vodka for their kick. Or, you may prefer to hold back on the sugar and simply infuse the subtle and complex essences of herbs, spices or fruit into a bottle of vodka.

Of course, you need not limit yourself to vodka infusions! Once your creativity gets flowing, you may start dreaming up intriguing new concoctions with rum, tequila, gin, brandy, and whiskey, too! Whichever alcohol you decide to use as your base, choose a decent-quality brand. There's no need to break the bank for the premium varieties, but don't use the cheapest ones, either, or your carefully crafted potions will not taste good enough to drink straight.

Pick a Flavor

Now comes the fun part: choosing your flavors! There are two ways to add flavor to liquor: either mix flavored extracts right into it, or choose the flavoring ingredients in their raw form and allow them to steep in the alcohol for days or weeks. Using extracts is the fastest way to make a batch of liqueur, and there are a few cases, such as with almond extract, where this is the best way to get the flavor you're trying to achieve. More often than not, though, you will get the best results when you slowly infuse the liquor with fresh ingredients. For example, lemon cordial made with fresh lemon zest will taste a million times better than something made with lemon extract. Using fresh ingredients also allows you to introduce more variety to your concoctions; you won't be able to find as wide a variety of extracts and essences as you will of fruits and herbs and spices.

Infusing liquor is not an exact science - the varieties and quantities of flavoring you use is largely a matter of taste. If you make an infusion whose flavor turns out to be too overwhelming, you can always dilute it with more of the liquor you used as a base. Here are some flavoring ideas:

Fruit: Orange zest, lemon zest, kumquats, cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, cherries, peaches, tart apples, pineapple, pomegranate seeds, dried apricots, or dried sour cherries. Whole fruit should be sliced and/or mashed to allow the juices to escape and let the liquor come in contact with as much surface area as possible. Leave the skin on for maximum flavor.

Herbs and spices: Vanilla beans, coriander seeds, peppercorns, hot chiles, lemongrass, cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg, whole coffee beans, dill, thyme, basil, tarragon, rosemary, or even garlic. Be sparing with the cloves and nutmeg: too much of these ingredients can produce a numbing effect in your mouth!

Try combining a couple of different flavors in the same batch: how about apple-cinnamon, chile-lemongrass, lemon-tarragon, orange-cranberry, or raspberry-vanilla? Just don't try to pack too many different things into one bottle, or you won't be able to distinguish the flavors.

Give it a Rest

Once you've chosen your alcohol and your flavorings, you just need to combine them. You can put the flavorings right into the liquor bottle if they'll fit through the neck. (You may need to pour some of the liquor into a holding container to make room for the other ingredients.) Otherwise, any glass or earthenware jar or bottle will work as long as it has a tight-fitting lid. Put the container in a dark place and leave it at room temperature. If you don't have a dark cupboard in your house, you can just put the bottles in a paper grocery bag and stir or rotate them a couple of times a day. Depending on how potent your flavorings are, you'll need to let them steep for anywhere from a day to a few weeks. Most fruit needs a full two to four weeks for all the flavor to be transferred to the alcohol, whereas chiles, garlic, and most fresh spices only need a couple of days. Don't be afraid to smell and taste the concoction to decide when it's ready.

Strain Your Resources

If you've used mashed fruit, your infusion is now going to have bits of sediment in the bottom. To get rid of, simply line a strainer with a coffee filter and slowly pour the liquor through it. Don't try to save the fruit that's been soaking in the booze - it won't have any flavor left in it.

Add a Little Sweetness

If you'd like to turn your fragrant new creation into a sweet liqueur, now is the time to add the sugar. However, you should avoid adding sugar directly to alcohol - it will take forever to dissolve, and you won't be able to tell right away how sweet it really is. Instead, make a simple syrup of two parts sugar to one part water. Combine them in a saucepan and simmer them on the stove until the sugar is completely dissolved. Let the syrup cool to room temperature and then sweeten the infusion to suit your tastes. Once a liqueur has been sweetened, most of them taste better after they've had a chance to "age" for a month or so. Aging allows the flavors to mellow and blend.

Bottle it Up

Scour local import stores, thrift stores, garage sales or your own cupboards to find interesting glass bottles. If they don't already have tops, you can buy corks at craft stores or winemaking supply shops to fit most bottle sizes. Have fun creating your own custom labels for your fine, handcrafted liqueurs. You can "garnish" each finished bottle by dropping in a small quantity of the original ingredients (a few berries, kumquats or coffee beans; a twist of citrus zest; an herb sprig; a chile pepper, etcetera).

Most homemade infusions are wonderful when served unadorned, straight out of the freezer. Most liqueurs are also beautiful when mixed into a fresh cup coffee or drizzled over a scoop of good vanilla ice cream. Any homemade libation can be substituted in a traditional cocktail with wonderful results. Make amazing martinis with your infused vodkas, or have fun inventing your own brand new signature drinks!
