How can you tell if someone has been drinking hard liquor?

I'm asking because when drinking hard liquor, you can't smell it on the breath for some reason so how do you tell?|||Believe it or not alcohol in beverages really does not have an odor. What you smell is the preservatives and coloring agents. There is no law about drinking preservatives and coloring agents. What you smell is the odor associated with alcohol beverages, which is a good indication of drinking alcohol. A good indication is the jerkiness in the eye movement as a person watches a moving object. If the person is half way (or more) drunk, it will be obvious in their overall movement.|||You can smell it and it smells rancid. Vodka is about the only one that you cant really smell.

You can tell by their behavior usually. Are they acting differently than normal?

You can also tell by looking and someones eyes, red or glassy.

Listen to speech. People under the influence of alcohol will usually slur their words, sounding like they have a lazy tongue.

Watch them walk...do they stagger?|||if they're actin' like a fool, then you'll know. for the person who answered you can't smell vodka, that's not true. Vodka is the only liquor i drink, and I've been told i smell like alcohol when i drink it.
