What is a good liquor to buy for a guy turning 21?

I am not a drinker, so therefore I am clueless as to what is good out there and what isn't. So if you could help me :)


My friend is catching up with the rest of us, turning 21.


I'll give you a brief description maybe help with the choice.





No beers, liquor preferably.





He isn't very picky, I wouldn't think.


But he likes finer things in life, nice clothes, etc.


Not a snob, or an asshole, anything like that.





No vodka, already know that one.


IDK, help?|||What about whiskey distilled the same year he was born. It would be special and memorable, certainly more so than just some random bottle of booze. It may be expensive, but you could team up with a couple other friends to buy it. Would recommend any 21 yr scotch. For a little less, you could get some really good US whiskey like Van Winkle 21 yr old. Sometimes Sazerac rye, although it says "18 yr on the label" is actually older based on the date distilled (in smaller typing on the label).|||Rum is my favorite liquor. It has to be spiced rum though. If he likes nice things then he would like Johny Walker. Make sure it is the black label though. That is 10 years old. There is also a green label that is older but it doesn't taste as good. My favorite rum is Meyer's. Meyer's makes a rum called Meyer's Legend which is also 10 years old. It is potent stuff though. It is 80 proof, like every other good rum but it burns like fire going down. If you want a lighter drink that you can drink more of without getting as drunk as with straight rum then you can mix it with coke. And you aren't a drinker because you haven't found anything you like yet. I recommend Tuaca and red bull (Tuaca bomb). Tuaca is like candy, there is no way you can't like it.|||Ok you said no vodka. I know this. Yet i strongly recommend....STRONGLY...smirnoff watermelon. Lots of it.
