Why does liquor make people wet on themselves?

why is it that my friend uses the bathroom on herself after she drinks so much liquor, it only happens if she drinks liquor not beer, she will go to bed and then wake up and the sheets and her clothes are wet, this is a pattern everytime she drinks liquor and goes to bed. Why is that? She doesn't do it on purpose she is 21 years old. shuld she wear depends or what?|||Hey. The reason that we like alcohol is because it's a depressant drug. It works on your central nervous system, which sends impulses all thoughout your brain and body. The first thing that happens when you drink alcohol is that it starts to affect your higher brain functions. This is why it lowers inhibitions - stops making you overthink things and just relax and enjoy them.

The next thing that happens is it affects deeper into your brain. The more central nervous system functions such as psychomotor coordination become affected. It slows down the rate that neurons fire and makes it harder for them to fire again: this is why cops to roadside tests: because you're obviously screwed if you can't adjust to a fine psychomotor task. (Walking a straight line, touching your nose, your brain is a little slower to co-ordinate than usual.)

Finally, the alcohol starts to get in towards the core brain functions. What is happening is your friend is probably too drunk to remember to pee before going to bed, and then her body is sending the signal: "I need to pee, get up!" and the central nervous system is too depressed to heed the signal and wake her from sleeping.

After a while the brain tricks the person into thinking that the dream is real, and since they need to pee so bad they find a place to pee in their dream - but immediately wake up when they realize it wasn't real, because suddenly the body's sending a lot more "oh ****, this isn't normal, this is ****** up! signals which activate more of the brain."

If she's not getting up immediately, then she's had a lot way too much more than she should have to drink and it means she's finding her functions all the way depressed nearly down to the brainstem. That kills people -%26gt; alcohol poisoning, resperatory distress, aspiring vomit, stuff like that. If she's not waking up, she's at risk for respiratory depression when this happens and she needs someone to stay with her when she's drinking and take her vitals.

If she _can_ drink less, it would help. I'm not going to preach about drinking, I'm in no place to do it, but trust me when you drink like this at 21, it gets worse - a lot worse. Takes a few years, usually, but. After that it's a lifetime of being an alcoholic. Hopefully she doesn't drink a lot and has supportive friends. Don't rag on her, she can't help the peeing and probably can't help the drinking.

Hope it helped,

Rob|||She needs to stop drinking....she is too drunk to know that she needs to get up and go to the bathroom.....to me she sounds like an alcoholic.....|||Everything may not suit everybody...one should be cautious and see what suits his/her. It is not right that one looses his/her control. But who cares ... its her clothes .. its her bed .. its her room !!|||she's **** faced! maybe because liquor has higher alcohol content which then relaxes her mind and body so much that her brain is not signaling to her that she has to pee. she may also be in like a semi coma where once she is asleep that nothing can wake her|||Dirty cow should give it up, it's not doing her any good.
