How much beer and liquor for my wedding reception?

We have around 250 people and are buying vodka, rum, gin and whiskey. Also we plan on buying kegs of beer. How many of each bottle of liquor and how many kegs should we get for 250 people?|||It really depends on how much your friends/family/other people you invited because your mother wanted to drink. I would seriously suggest sitting down, estimating how much each person will want to drink on average multiplying it out by your # of guests, then multiply it by 1.25 to make sure you cannot run out.

On that note, because you should overbuy as a precaution, lean a little heavier on the liquor, as it will not go bad and the beer will, so leftovers can be taken home. Also, I am assuming you have proper mixers for the liquors but even so, you should probably get more vodka and whiskey than rum and gin. As for kegs versus liquor, a keg has 150+ beers in it, so it all depends on how much everyone will drink, but if you estimate 2 beers a head on average outside the liquor you need around 3 kegs.|||Ask the liquor store how many cups are in a keg, I used to know but I can't remember. For my wedding, the venue estimated $30 per guest for open bar and that turned out to be about right. So that's 5-6 drinks per guest. Instead of the hard liquor, I would buy cases of wine because it's easier to estimate how many glasses in a bottle- roughly 4. Also if you buy liquor you then have to shell out $$$ for mixers like grenadine, lime, sprite, coke, etc. But you'll be having soft drinks anyway so I guess liquor would work.|||For 250 people that I KNOW each person could easily drink 1/2 - 1 bottle of spirits.

Divide your guest list up into categories

Children - obviously just soft drink and juice for the kiddies :)

Non drinkers - People you KNOW who will not be drinking i.e. pregnant Aunt Grace and 80 year old grandmother. Maybe allocate them one or two drinks just in case. Especially for a toast or soemthing.

Light drinkers - People who will have a few drinks %26amp; stay sober - allocate one drink per hour per person.

Medium drinkers - People who will have a few drinks %26amp; get tipsy - allocate 2-3 drinks per hour per person.

Heavy drinkers - People who are gonna get blind drunk. Allocate 1/2 a bottle to a full bottle per person.|||About 5 bottles of each and probably 3 kegs.

Don't let anybody drive home afterwards.|||wtf no red wine???? you can get that Taylor Port **** for $6 a bottle and it is 21% alky. mmmmmm DAMN that stuff is good!
