What's the difference between liquor and hard liquor?

What's the difference, and what kinds of liquor are considered the hard kinds?|||Hard liquor is basically distilled liquor, like vodka, gin, rum, tequila, whiskey etc. This is as opposed to wine, beer, malt beverages, brandy, cognac, and liqueurs.|||I have always thought that hard liquor was made in a still outside in the woods behind my granddaddies farm in Missouri. I understand it is based on the alcohol content. Some whiskey can not be sold legally in the U.S. if the content of alcohol is over 151 proof or 75.5% Alc/Vol. Anything over this is illegal. I use to make an apricot liquor with 100% grain alcohol...now I have to use Everclear Grain Alcohol. It will take your breath away.|||It is all the same really. Some people might call "hard liquor" the liquor that has a higher proof.|||Paul in San Diego has the right idea.
